Likiery (nalewki) są słodkimi napojami alkoholowymi o bogatym zakresie smaków. Zazwyczaj smaki pochodzą z owoców, ziół lub orzechów. Nalewki odróżniają się od innych alkoholi owocowych zawartością cukru. Zawartość alkoholu większości likierów mieści się w zakresie 15% a 55%.
Baileys (zarejestrowana jest nazwa handlowa z pominięciem apostrofu) - irlandzki likier tworzony na bazie śmietanki i whiskey, z dodatkiem wanilii i kakao. Deklarowana przez producenta zawartość alkoholu to 17%. Po raz pierwszy skosztowano Baileysa 27 listopada 1974. Baileys dostępny jest w ponad trzydziestu krajach i należy do czołowych marek koncernu Diageo.
Mleko potrzebne do produkcji likieru pochodzi wyłącznie od około 40 tys. wyselekcjonowanych krów, hodowanych na 1,5 tys. irlandzkich farm. Trzykrotnie destylowana whiskey używana przy produkcji likieru pochodzi z najstarszej w Irlandii, 400-letniej destylarni w Bushmills.
W Polsce Baileys dostępny jest w szklanych butelkach o pojemnościach 50ml, 200ml, 500ml, 700ml oraz 1000ml. Obecnie w sprzedaży są już nowe warianty smakowe likieru: poza tradycyjnym Baileys Original, kupić można także Baileys Mint Chocolate, Baileys Coffee oraz Baileys Cr?me Caramel - dostępne także w Polsce. Pod koniec 2010 roku wprowadzono na rynek czwartą wersję smakową, Baileys Hazelnut; we wrześniu 2011 piątą - Baileys Biscotti Flavour a w 2012 szóstą - Baileys Orange Truffle.
